I have recently finished a contract as the Extras Casting Coordinator on Seachange Reimagined 2019. I am a writer at heart, and I am hoping to get into screenwriting in the future. I have a variety of skills, including research and organisation, and I am happy to assist within any department.

EXTRAS CASTING COORDINATOR

SEACHANGE REIMAGINED, MULLUMBIMBY

  • Disseminating public email campaign and filtering approximately 2000 applicants for selection, including even demographic spread and characterisation fit
  • Holding a Casting Day for 350 applicants: coordinating parking, regulating flow of arrivals, planning for bad weather, assisting applicants with forms, taking applicant headshots
  • Street Casting and auditioning applicants for bit part speaking roles
  • Drafting Deal Memos
  • Interpreting scripts and liaising with Directors and the Heads of Costume and Makeup Departments to cast suitable characters for various scenes
  • Utilising Excel to budget for approximately 600 Extras shifts split over four shooting blocks, and liaising with different Directors and the Line Producer for each shooting block to ensure adherence to budget
  • Distributing varying Call Times and parking locations on a daily basis to groups of up to 40 Extras via text and email
  • Creating spreadsheets to monitor bookings, and distributing booking spreadsheets to crew members
  • Reviewing sign-on and tax declaration forms to ensure all paperwork has been filled out correctly before handing over to the Accounts Department
  • Liaising with Multicultural Families Organisation, Southport to source Extras from regions of Africa
  • Accommodating prayer and food requirements during shooting for the period of Ramadan for Extras of the Muslim faith
  • Liaising with Indigenous community and Byron Shire Council to ensure inclusive employment opportunities
  • Liaising with the local community, including directing concerned locals to community meetings hosted by Production
  • Booking and briefing Extras on shooting requirements via phone, and also utilising Gmass to distribute information to large groups of Extras via email
  • Assisting the Art Department in wrangling cars by coordinating the use of Extras vehicles
  • Replacing Extras who have cancelled last-minute or failed to show up to set on time
  • Designing and locally distributing flyers seeking Extras applications
