Anita Seiler is one of South Australia’s leading Costume Designers. She
has an innovative, creative and adaptive flair that has allowed her to
successfully design costumes for feature films, television series, and
leading national television commercials for 25 years.
Beginning her career in Adelaide on the children’s program Here’s
Humphrey at Channel 9, Anita has since consistently developed a vast
knowledge base through her experiences working with directors such as
Rolf De Heer, George Olgivy, Matt Saville, Luke Shanahan. She has
strengthened this experience with study in Fashion Design and
Construction, Film Continuity, Visual Arts and most recently a Cert IV in
Training and Assessment, which she now uses as a Freelance Costume
Lecturer at TAFE SA. Alongside this she has successfully run her own
costume hire business, b’KOSTUMED in the Adelaide Hills for over 10
years, where she houses a huge collection of both contemporary and
period costumes that she uses both in her own work and are available for
film, television and theatre production hire.
Feature films that Anita has designed and or supervised include
Upright,The Call Back, Storm Boy, Going For Gold, Speed, Rabbit, A
Month of Sundays, Dawn, Snowtown, Last Ride, Closed for Winter, Like
Minds, and Look Both Ways, as well as TV shows Prank Patrol and
Chuck Finn. She has also regularly worked on re-occurring TVC’S such
as the popular RAA “George” series, Mitsubishi, MAC, Hardy’s wines
and San Remo, and styled music videos for the likes of Jimmy Barnes
and The Audreys. Anita is also highly competent in styling fashion
shoots, having been the fashion stylist for 13 editions of the award
winning Adelaide Hills Magazine. She was also nominated for a South
Australian Screen Award (Production Design) for her work on A Tortured
Mind, a Tropfest short film, in 2011.
Anita has a professional, amicable manner that has seen her work with
and form connections with national and international actors such as Tim
Minchin, Keifer Sutherland, Jeremy Irons, Molly Ringwald, Anthony
Lapaglia, Kylie Minogue, Adelaide Clemens, Alex Russell and Veerie
Baetans. She is highly versatile in her work, moving from the city to the
desert and between period, contemporary and futuristic costumes with
ease. Her strengths lie strongly in design, interpretation, colour
communication and collaboration with the producer, director and actors.
She is expert at creating a visual atmosphere that evokes emotion and
brings the creative visions desired to life.
